This is a walking tour for people
who are experienced, fit and love walking along tracks that are
not usually offered to the tourist market.
We start off in the Mt Cook National
Park, where this year we hope to see the famous mountain! (We couldn’t
see the mountain last year due to cloudy weather conditions). We
then head south to the Otago Peninsula and the Catlins.
A new addition to the walk this
year is a visit to Stewart Island for a feast of sea birds and marine
life. Then it’s north to the Remarkables ski field and a wonderful
crossing of the Pisa Range.
Our grand finale will be 2 nights
and 3 days in the Mt Aspiring National Park in the Matukituki Valley
for the fabulous mountain scenery. A private and secluded hut will
be our accommodation for the two nights.
We will be trekking amongst some
of the finest scenery in the South Island. Snow capped mountains,
beech forests, rivers, mountain streams and high tussock grasslands.
Not to mention the endemic birdlife and wildflowers which we will
come across along the way.
Walks will be mostly day trips
on trails and in areas not usually frequented by overseas visitors.
You will only need to carry day packs. However there is an overnight
walk where sleeping bags and some food etc will need to be carried.
Our Australian guides, Coates
Senior naturalist Rick Curtis and Pam Riordan, owner of local WA
adventure walking company Inspiration Outdoors will be joined by
local walking guide Martin Curtis. Together these three very experienced
walkers will ensure each days walking is safe and memorable.
